For the employees of the insolvent wagon construction Niesky (WBN) there is good news. In the future, WBN will become part of the Tatravagónka Group, which can look back on almost 100 years of history in the production of freight cars.

Founder of the company was the Halath family, which received an order in 1922 for the repair of freight cars for the Czechoslovak Railways. 1946 began the actual production of freight cars.

“We have found one of the ideal candidates, which secures the jobs of around 300 employees,” it said.

According to IG Metall, the Slovakian rail vehicle manufacturer gave WBN a five-year job and site security.

Following the signing of a major order for the construction of 160 bulk freight wagons for a low double-digit million amount between K + S AG and Wiesenbau Niesky (WBN) at the beginning of March, the insolvency administrator Dr. Ing. Jürgen Wallner, to conclude another contract with a logistics company for the construction of 149 car transport wagons with a total volume of more than € 23 million.

WBN filed for bankruptcy late last year due to imminent insolvency.
